Who We Are
The Knowledge is Light Foundation is a Gambian based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering orphans and underprivileged children to reach their full potential through Islamic studies. Our foundation will strive to foster an environment of trust and compassion in order to fulfill our goals. We know that miracles happen when you bring together those who have, with those who are less fortunate.
Together with your help and our supporters, we will provide foster homes, educational training, as well as recreational facilities for the orphans. Moreover, we welcome local and international charity organizations, voluntary bodies, societies, and individuals to aid in our mission. We believe together we can empower a lot of people to affect real change.
And we don’t stop there. We lead with the heart, but carefully measured with the head. For every orphanage we support, we systematically measure progress based on the 12 Rights of a Child. This way, donors can clearly see the impact their investment makes. All children have the right to a healthy childhood, a quality education and an opportunity for a promising future. Our job is to give everyone the opportunity to join in and be the miracle these orphans are hoping for
